If you are exhausted 99% of the time like me, then you need a quick pick me up to get you through the day. Whether you’re stressed with school, work or general life it is easy to turn to comfort foods to make you feel better (trust me.. I am currently sitting here munching away on a chocolate bar). It is important to remember to keep a balance and making sure you get some form of fruit and veg into your daily diet, I find that eating lots of fruit puts me in a much happier mood, and it also improves your skin which is always a plus!
One of my favourite ways to make sure I am getting my daily fruit into my system is to make smoothies, here are my top four ‘go to’ smoothie recipes that you can enjoy at home!
- Red Berry Smoothie: Redcurrants, Blackcurrants, Strawberries, Raspberries, Cherries and Blackberries – this mix of berries will wake you up in no time. This is a super strong smoothie, so if you don’t like it too strong then add some fat free yoghurt to balance it out.
- Orange Summer Day Smoothie: Papaya, Carrot, Mango, Orange Juice – This smoothie is perfect for a hot summers day, add more orange juice to make it even more refreshing.
- Yellow Chill Out Smoothie: Banana, Cinnamon and Yoghurt / Milk – This smoothie is perfect for those who have a sweet tooth, this one literally tastes amazing and is perfect for a breakfast alternative to get you ready for the day, it also ideal after a long stressful day and you want to wind down.
- Green Power Smoothie: Banana, Kale and Mango Smoothie – Although not the prettiest of smoothies, it tastes pretty good. This smoothie is perfect to give you an energy boost… so if you got a report to write but feeling quite sluggish, this is the perfect smoothie for you.
Keeping your diet in balance is so important, especially when you’re getting older and life is getting busier and busier. It is okay to treat yourself to that slice of cake but don’t forget about that fruit that have been sitting in the fruit bowl for a couple days.
